The Barrow Environmental Observatory (BEO) Master Plan update was formally approved by the North Slope Borough Planning Commission on 31 January 2013. This document supercedes the original which was approved in 2002 and is intended to guide stewardship of this specially-zoned Scientific Research District for the next decade.
Current and potential researchers are encouraged to review the BEO Master Plan during project planning by clicking on the image below, with special attention to Section 2.3 Management Policies. Adequate advance communication will help avoid any potential conflicts between research groups in this intensively-used area, and ensure its viability as a scientific resource for years to come.
Any questions about the implementation of the BEO Master Plan can be directed to UIC Science General Manager Nagruk Harcharek (firstname.lastname@example.org).
